hi all im mick im new to this i live around ulladulla my missus just briught me a metal detector for xmas and wondering were to go and try it out
 
Welcome to the forum Mick, depending on where you live, unless it's a high rise apartment, try your own backyard, it will give you privacy to learn the machine with out worrying about who is watching ,.... it will also allow you to understand the mess you could make elsewhere, thus, it will immediately send you on a journey of ensuring you leave a tidy excavation each time you dig a target. It's always good to start that way. Look up digging plugs the right way without leaving a mess ,.... and buy a pinpointer that works properly asap (don't buy the cheap ones), some don't work like they should, my old mate got caught out buying a crap one, and still has to borrow mine when we hunt together (not that I mind). :D
