First of i would like say hello to you all i'm new to prospecting and i have an old garrett a.D.S vlf/tr detector the same detector that the late kevin hillier used to find the hand of faith nugget. Q: i have just got permission to go on some private land, gold has been found in the area before i have added a map from google earth and placed a red line where the fault line is in geo-vic. I have been told the creeks have been worked hard and no colour in it but from the image i put up with this post were would be the best spot to start from above or below the fault line or in the gully's i think that's what they are or are the runoffs i don't no i can only see from google earth until i go out there. Thank you :/

hey crazybull welcome to the forum,

Think marbles mate, if you dropped some marbles on top of that reef where would they likely travel? question is did the gold come from that local source or has it eroded into that gully millions of years ago? was there an old river running through there?

at first look potentially a few gullie there, after some more research definatly some good drainage systems. Hope this helps.

I know the area well, there are still colors in the creeks there.
The primary source of gold there was elevated placers which have reweathered. On Geovic turn on the 50k geological layer and look for the 'white hills gravels'. They are usually on top of smaller rounded hills, detect down hill of where the conglomerate is exposed.
After looking at GeoVic I see most of the gravels have already weathered from the hills at that spot, in these areas it could be wide spread everywhere.
A lot of the private property there has also been pretty well detected (fence jumping at night time is common there). But there are still some very nice nuggets, I seen an 11ozer come from nearby there a couple months back on private property. Good luck with it and don't give up too quick, there will definately be gold there.
I have a spare gpx if you need a hand ;) :D
