New to the game and trying to learn as much as possible

Hi guys,

I bought my first metal detector, a Minelab gpx 5000 on the weekend from a retired German fellow on gum tree after researching into it a bit (and selling my motorcycle, for the record my girlfriend thinks I've gone from stupid to crazy haha ).

Very excited to get out there and have a go, I'm hoping to go around Bendigo region this weekend to have a look.

Just wondering any tips on what coil should I use in that area as it has the mono and double? The German man suggested the mono coil.
