Hi all,
Just like to introduce myself, from Gippsland in Victoria started prospecting and detecting around 5 years ago when I got my first detector a Minelab GPX 4500. I remember it was such an agonising wait for it to arrive, as it was at a time when they were having supply issues due to such a high demand in Africa ect as I believe. They were going for absolutely stupid prices on Fleebay $8000 plus.
I didn't have much luck with my detector that is unless you count bullet casings as treasure I sure don't. Although I did find what I believe were musket balls which would have a long and interesting history, I will upload some pictures when I get a chance.
I sold my detector a year or so ago although have since moved onto panning and have a little prospectors choice sluice from the states which has produce some results. I generally condense my dirt into 2 or 3 20lt buckets and slowly run through my sluice, although this method is very time consuming so I am looking to up my game to a Trommel.
Regards
Dags
