New NSW prospector

Hi all, new to mining and prospecting. May be a silly question given no one would really give up their spots. But can anyone help my out with a guide to prospecting in NSW areas and places I can possibly head to for a weekend of prospecting? I've found one hire sites for detectors and so on but any advise on what to use and so on would be great as well. Can't wait to catch the big..
