mid last week i went for a bush walk and like always i took a pan this area has no signs of any human presents ever. theres no info of any gold or any prospect work on any reports or maps..

so i thought ill go for a walk for the nature instead of the gold this area has a deep gully with no signs of any flowing water or any area that look like theres been any huge water flows ever. biggest river rocks were no bigger then a foot ball and only a few spots had some bed rock expose..

so after about a 90 minutes of walking it was about 1pm i stopped for some lunch and thought ill spend an houror so in the gully with the pan because you never know what out there. after about 8 pans no gold :-( .
i thought ill do 10 pans all up if no gold time to move on.. and on pan 10 wow got 4 flakes.
on pan 12 got this.

i found its very patchy ground some times 10 to 15 pans no gold then a pan with more the 10 specs with some flakes..
here is a picture of the bigger gold i found out there on the weekend..

That's awesome Ben. Well done. Some are lucky some are not. I'm definately in the not group so far. You should have plenty more about in that area.

Fantastic stuff Ben, was almost the same for me 5years ago! Found a local gully/creek, just to practise driving a gold pan in, and "WHALA" Gold in dem pans!
There be a few little pockets in there somewhere, ya dream! Into it mate.
Awesome.

:p

It's always exciting to find some yellow..especially in a new area..Looks like it has traveled a bit..well washed..which spreads it over a large area..Nature may have accumulated it somewhere, for you..If you can find that in a Virgin spot then could be a lot of fun..Best of luck..

G'Day Ben

That is a great new find. I did the same several years ago myself. Although it was not a new find but a lost one. A bloke gave me a very old explorers record and said I might me able to make use of it. Read about a fantastic gold find so I checked it out all over other records and maps and the geological surveys - nothing. None of the place names he mentioned existed. Then found another old map, a parish map from the period and there they were. Modern map makers had used different names for the creeks and locations.

Went out there and bashed through the thick scrub and ended up over a gorge and down below was the rock bar of rock bars. Scrambled and partly fell down the slope and spent around an hour or two with the pan all over the area - nothing, no gold and not even any black sand. OK that was it I said, getting ready to climb back out. Looking at the gorge wall I though Nuh, can't make that. Down the creek the walls became flatter so thought that would be a better bet. Walked down and there was another little series of bars across the creek so figured I would scrape one out as a final pan. Washed away and got down to the last spoonful or so and there was no black sand. Ok gave the pan one last swirl and about a six inch tail of flake gold!!. Never found any other place where it was only gold and no other heavies. Months later while exploring the area I found old diggings and a couple of old huts.

Good find ther. I found a spot not long ago after hrs of research which I sampled and found quite a few good little shapes it had been worked many years ago and I don't think no one has been back there since for there is no sign of any modern-day diggings but the evidence is there of Chase's cut into the rock. And as the same there is a lot of football size overburdened Rocks that I have to remove before I can dig I sampled High/ deep this way that way and found it only to be on the top 200 millimetres. I cannot wait to get back out there and give it a go.

Well done mate!! Its an awesome feeling when ya find yellow when ya dont think it would be there.. well its an awesome feeling when ya find that yellow anytime... good on ya and i hope ya hit big!!! ;)
