So the spot where I found some excellent gold last time I visited, which was only 5 minute walk from my parents house, is now a bit too deep for prospecting after all the rain and me and Dad are hoping to do some panning tomorrow!

I'm after a creek within an hours drive of Clunes (or slightly over if its a very good spot ;P ) that would have a creek with a suitable water level to get some material out of it and do some panning, that I wouldn't be waist deep in, and would ideally excellent potential for some gold (I can hope!)

Winning recommendations I'll owe a finely crafted beer to ;)

You could try Creswick Slaty creek at the picnic grounds 1, 2 but this would depend on the road conditions. both are accessible from Slaty Creek Road. G0lddig@ is the best man for advice on the topic.
cheers db

While reading this post, the ad "gonna need a bigger boat" by jeep came on lol, have you tried panning higher up inner bends?

Sorry I'm not much help but I empathize. ..... my favorite haunt is brimming according to Johnny on the spot..... Not enough in it 8 weeks ago too much atm. ... It's a hard life. Just getting by thinking about how all those little pieces are moving into places I'm going to find. X2 on trying GD.

haha you lot crack me up, slaty creek is looking good at the moment fellas certainly plenty of water to run a highbanker and as of today no problems sluicing you juts need to know were to go. There's good fine gold coming out of a pay-streak south of camp 3 dig down theres a aline of white clay untop of yellow that holds heaps of really fine flat gold.

Mopoke gully is good, if you have a highbanker and a long hose you can work this quite easily otherwise PM me mate when your planning a trip and i'm only 15 minutes away happy to come out and show you a spot or two. And yes I dont have any problem taking your beer :p

You had me at white clay.... soon as i can spare a day I'm heading in that general direction.
