I like my Thornado pump but there are some situations that do require a bit more grunt. :/
I got this motor and pump for next to nicks. :D
A lovejoy Jaw coupling and a bit of steel I had lying around and
PRESTO.
I am going to build a better frame base for it as the steel is a bit to thin and not rigid enough for my liking.
The wheels might be a tad to narrow but I do not envisage going to far with it.
After building another base I will fit it with some levelers and handle to tow it with.
Happy Days.

That's the problem with the base. Steel is a bit to thin a gauge and it warps.
Run out is .25mm. Jaw coupling tolerance is .45
I can make it better. :) :) :)

cool and i dont mean to be picky but do you have a dial gauge or straightedge to check the shaft alignment ?

the pump looks about 0.52 mm too high

:)

Oh, It is a proper Honda 5.5 Hp Motor too. :) :)

Could the pump not couple directly to the motor? Do away with that coupling & make the whole unit more compact?

The pump looks very similar to my Davey Firefighter

Direct coupling would require much tighter tolerances than those thus far described to avoid premature detonation.

Gee I like you guy's.
Very perceptive of you all. LOL
Fitting the pump directly to the motor requires the crank to have a left hand thread on it.
This one is a straight 3/4 Dia. Keyed.
That is also correct about direct coupling. You would be down to a few thou. if that to prevent the whole lot exploding.
Even if you did get it right, The base would twist under torque and that is not a pretty sight. LOL
You can get the same combo all fitted up but as I said, I got this lot next to nicks so it was worth it to go this far.
The pump combo's weigh in at about 30 Kilo's and that is not a real good thing to cart over a fair distance.
By using the coupling I have made something out of nothing and also achieved a fair amount of portability in the bargain.
To buy the combo new is around the $1000.00 mark.
$50.00 to begin with is a good saving I thought and it is a genuine Honda 5.5 Horse motor.
.
It actually looks quit gutsy with the shaft and coupling turning over. LOL
I am going to put a shield over it.

Cool idea have you used it yet?
I remember watching a guy on YouTube a while back doing the same thing, but to run a generator. The problem he had was the coupler broke into pieces, lol
Not saying this will happen to you, but i was curious as how yours faired.
cheers
Ryan
