My FOM (June) prize arrived - a Tyger Cub stainless digging tool, Tyger cap and a MineLab neck scarf.

Thanks to mbasko, Prospecting Australia and Tyger / ML for the prizes.

Like a little kid I've been counting down the days until it arrived. :)

I can now retire my three times repaired Bunning's garden trowel. The Tyger digger is super solid and will last a lifetime I reckon.

Don't use a metal scoop it just don't work if you're looking for metal of any sort.

I hunt for coins and other stuff. I tried a plastic trowel and it lasted 2 minutes.

If I can't immediately spot the target I put the dirt to the side and use my pin pointer.

All good Jaros.

We seem to fall into two camps here, prospecting and treasure / relic hunting with metal detecting being the overlap.

If someone came up with a hard wearing super strong carbon fibre trowel they'd be onto a winner!
