The headphone jack is the culprit.

I have 2mm movement of the audio signal cable into the headphone jack.
I can get the audio to cut out if I gently push and pull the slack in this connection.

Is there an effective repair that I can do myself and how do I get inside the black end cap?
Is it a job for the local guitar shop as it "appears to be" a standard amplifier jack?
Do I return it (warrantied) to Minelab's Service Centre as best recourse?

Thnx in advance,
Steve.

Maybe ring minelab and see if it is covered under their warranty, possibly not, so if you sent it to them it would comeback with a charge
If it's a normal headphone jack try and get a gold plated one but you'll have to check the female end for wear as well
plug a different set in to test
Jaycar has most parts but the music shop might sell better quality ones

If they are under warranty return them to the dealer or direct back to Minelab.
If they failed under normal use then they will be covered. Minelab "branded" headphones have a 3 year warranty - you may as well use it unless you need them repaired straight away.

My mate has had 3 sets replaced by minelab for his sdc so use the warranty .

OK Lads,

Many thanks for your assistance.

I will get an external speaker organised to see me through while sending the warranty job to Minelab.

Such a great level of assistance here on forum.

Cheers!

Going out to Blackwood, Albion today til Sunday.

Steve
