Just browsing through the apps on Google PlayStore and noticed some metal detecting apps. It seems they actually work to an extent as well picking up my keys, coins and a gram of gold in a glass container from 1.5" away ( air tests )

May come in handy one day, don't know where the signal comes from, but if its the aerial you can plug in an extension aerial and you have a cheap pinpointer probe ;)

Plug in a coil on a stick(and use your headphones too),... but use that app thing that shows different temperatures in your camera mode as well,.... maybe you could home in on the hotter ground with it as you watch where you are scanning. :)

Sorry lost the topic in the forum tsunami hehe

The thermal apps are fake from what I know like most apps, I thought the detector ones were fake too until I tested them

I'm sure some use can be made out of it :)

Love the skidplate comments

Ill get my 3 year old to crawl about and attach one to each knee and hand

Like it Nightjar. Seems to be all over over the place. No wonder there's a lot of people getting run over in the city of Brisbane.

A girl was watching my partner and I ripping out pull tabs from the park and said "my daddy downloaded a metal detector onto his phone but it just made lots of beeping noises and didn't work".. my thoughts were "Dude, do you even ground balance?!"

After playing with the apps more seriously last night I must say they are an epic fail which I did assume from the start. Its seems to only detect a specific alloy of iron, so it picked up my stainless / titanium scissors and a frame of a quad, but not a coin or even a cast iron fireplace...

I think they are mega limited with capability but its the thought that counts ;)
