I met two blokes who used to do that about 20yrs ago with detectors. One day I bumped into 1 of them. He told me he lost his mate doing it. I can't recall if it was bad air or rock fall.
Not for me, I like daylight too much.

Plenty of people look around old mines and diggings without drawing attention like that.

I think there was a guy or guys killed in a rock fall in Q'land , a few years ago . They had entered an old mine .

I'd call it as crazy going into those old holes. Trenches can be deadly, old mineshafts also. :N:
