Is there a requirement to be licensed for coin/relic hunting in Queensland.
I will be holidaying there soon and would like to try some beaches and parks.
If a license is required how do I arrange for it in advance.
regards Ned (NSW)

Hi

licensed for coin/relic hunting in Queensland - No licence as yet.

However to be 100% correct;

A: You should be OK on most beaches - but Life savers do have the authority to ask you to move on if you are believed to be disturbing other beach goers.

B: Most public parks are legally a No No -

# But most MD people ignore it and unless a complaint or a mess / plugs and or some one thinks you are trouble; then police or council offers are not overly concerned.

C: State forests and reserves / national parks etc - check with the local departments.

But due to the behaviour by some, there are some places where the council officers will ask you to stop and move on, if they see you...

They do have limited powers but if you piss them off, they will get the police and should you choose to ignore their advice = your problem.

If you are in a Gold producing area - Always worth while to get a fossicking prospecting permit...
