Hi All,
I finally had time to get away last weekend. It was really a boys weekend down at my mates farm to thin out the roos a bit and fell a tree that was hanging over his machinery shed making the tank water brown.
Anyway I got away from work on Thursday avo and drove straight there.
Friday I got up early and headed to the river stopping in on the landowner to say G'day and shoot the breeze.
After a bit of a chat I got to the river about 10am and set up my "stealthbanker" and submersible pump and got into the crevicing.
I managed to run about 3 buckets of material from the crevice I've been working since Christmas and when I did the cleanup at the end I found this little beauty in the bottom tray.
At first I thought it was a nugget but after looking at it through my loupe it turned out to be a nice looking 0.39 gram specimen mixed with quartz.
I left all my gear on site and I went back to the farm a happy camper.
Saturday was a late start after a late night spotlighting and then a few beers afterwards with the boys. Ended up a 2:30 finish.
My mate Ric decided he wanted to "see what this gold thing is all about" so I had company. We got down to the river about 12:30 and I gave him a tour of the old boys workings. Now Ric is a concretor and used to hard phisical work but he could not belive the amount of earth these old timers moved by hand.
We got into the creice again and he has decided he is not a prospector.
I went down the river by myself on Sunday and again had a late start about 12:00 after another late night having been lead astray again.
As I was walking over to my gear I saw a 6ft black snake hunting for frogs by the water. He soon departed when I turned up and slithered into the scrub but it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up that's for sure.
Anyway here's the results from about 6 buckets of material.
Cheers
Mick
