Kenilworth/Sunshine coast - Legally prospecting? How do I find out?

Hey everyone!
I've been doing a little bit of prospecting around Kenilworth lately, I'm 16, so I'm usually with my dad.
I know there are some potentially good spots around the area, however, we don't want to be prospecting illegally.
I've been looking specifically around Chinaman Creek but having a hard time figuring out what is private property or somewhat restricted areas and what isn't.
Does anyone have any experience or information on the area as to where we could go that they would be willing to share?

is all state forest , national park and private.

Being QLD your only hope of legal prospecting outside a GPA is to approach the private property owner.

That statement applies to the whole state (inc Chinaman Ck )
