I finally bit the bullet my brother and I and brought 2 SDC2300 Detectors , my impress is it is a great little machine which will go hand in hand with my GPX4000
I went to Super cheap auto and brought a aluminum case for $30 it fits in there perfectly, note pictures, taken it out 3 time in the last week , only for short time no gold but plenty of lead shot , mainly shot gun pallets , but also a few musket balls , which I don't mind finding, looking forward to getting out there for a weekend , and give a real hit. like to thank the boys at bendigo gold for doing us a deal on 2 , if you don't ask you don't get.

I just have one question to owners of the SDC2300 , on the third use of the Machine it has become a little unstable.
keeps resetting it's self , has anyone else had this problem , look forward hearing from you

regards the Pa

Hey Mate
Yes it is an issue that the SDC suffers from, check this thread ( or any of my posts re the SDC2300) https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=11425
There is no doubt it is a great unit, this issue wont stop you finding "Gold" but is bloody annoying, minelab should come up with a solution that does not require folks to stretch!!!!!! the springs, the point of contact to my way of thinking is to narrow for the robust nature of our hobby.

Gday choice

Good luck with your new purchase , lot of guys heading the way of the GPX / SDC combo. On the battery issue Lee is on the money with the spring stretch alternatively a little electrical tape around the girth of each battery stops the lateral movement and keeps the contact , seems the supplied batteries were a tad smaller than other rechargeables on the market which seem to be ok.

Like the case mate :)

Cheers

There is nothing wrong with your SDC, it was a poor choice of batteries supplied by Minelab.

I agree that we should not have to stretch the springs and wrap electrical tape around each battery, but hey it works.

For those bothered to pursue it, there is a strong case to supply another brand of battery that has a larger positive terminal.

I personally could not be bothered and have mine taped and have never had it turn off and reset since.

If your getting lead that means the area you are detecting has not been over thoroughly yet (or there's no gold there)!

Cheers
