I found this little guy just outside my front door this evening.
I dont know how i didnt step on him ... And when i noticed something scurying out the corner of my eye , i nearly **** my dacks.
It has obvious webbing between its tail and back feet but has long front legs and not wings(well not that i could see anyway) hes no more than 3" long
I gave him a bit of a nudge and he just ran ,in an odd sort of fashion

Looks like a "micro bat".
They are the ones that emit that high pitch sound, (that only some people can hear) when bugs are about and you are sitting quietly outside round a fire or light.
Cool little critters but, be very wary of handling them as they can have some quite nasty diseases in their bite!

Have rescued a few that have had their wings hooked on barbed wire.
Great photo's too mate!!!

Cheers,
Billy.

Not sure if I should tell this story as it seems pretty farfetched but I swear it did happen. About 10 years ago the family cat caught a bat and brought it to show us. Grabbed it off the cat and held onto him for about an hour and then he seemed ok to go so off he flew.
Have a toilet door that opens onto the veranda and a few days latter was sitting there one night and a bat flew in and landed on my foot , sat there for a minute and took off. Very weird. I kid you not this really happened wasn't even late at night.

Yes it is, may be sick or scared as it is not common for them to be on the ground/floor as they normally hang from things.

Cheers DD

You need to put him in a tree or a Bush up high coz he cant take off from the Ground,

its just pissed, left the pub, and lost his keys to the batmobile, in the long grass. Came knockin on Sandtas door, to borrow the ace 250 :)

Beautiful creatures. When I was younger, my best mates mum found one tiny forest bat drowning in their pool. It had been in there for hours. She brought it up to my place for me to nurse it back to better health (she was a nurse)? I used to turn the back spotty on and catch moths. Pinch the moths wings together behind its back and let the moths antenna touch the bats face. It would grab the moth out of my fingers with its month, spin it and chew off its head and wings allowing them to fall and eat the rest. Supper fast.. I had it for nearly a week before he decided to leave via the back door. Interesting point. We used to have these polystyrene interior roof tiles in the lounge room and it instantly worked out it could get a grip on that stuff? It could work out the density of objects via its echo. Pretty cool I thought.

Seriously I didn't know what to think.i even called the Missus to come and have a look cause I knew she wouldn't believe me. I like to think it was a good karma thing hoping it was the same bat but just think it was a really freaky coincidence .
