I made this device some years back & called it the gold pram , it used a double wave action at each end to help drop any gold using a rocking movement into a removable trap at the bottom .

It actually worked with the agitator handle , but only wet . 8.(

Time and effort later , now I have a completely new hand cranked design that concentrates dry material and works well :D



 
Looks like a manual version of a jig, interesting concept. I wish my welding skill were on par to do make such contraptions. :)
 
it would still work ok for puddling up clay just add some small spikes around the inside and make the bottom catchment bigger and make the hole thing taller so you can put a bucket under it I think its a great Idea and would work with clay a lot :)
