Hi all,

I'm from Maitland NSW and keen on spending a bit more time outdoors with the kids. Spent a bit of time with my father fossicking when I was a kid, and want to do the same with my kids. A bit of sunshine and a treasure hunt beats them sitting inside watching TV or playing on an Ipad.

Of late I've been bitten quite badly by the fossicking bug, and seem to spend most of my time these days looking down rather than up. Have found some lovely thunder eggs at Kandos with the family, and some Prase and jasper at Nundle. I've started to collect a library of info (and rocks), and while I don't mind gold, I love gemstones and minerals more.

Am off to Gloucester camping this weekend, so any hints or tips would be very handy.
