Im looking at going to Uralla (gold)or maybe Glen Innes (sapphires)

Both of these areas are new to me and was wondering if anyone has been to Uralla for gold? Im coming down from Brisbane and looking at staying (camping) for three days. Any info would be appreciated.

Uralla, lots of fine gold, chunky ironstone black sand and masses of mica shimmering and shining like gold in your pan - it washes out though which is great!

Fossicking area has a campsite but has probably been heavily worked for gold over the years.

I got a 1/2oz of fine gold from near the camping area in Uralla, I also got a few very nice blue sapphires and topaz. A mate up there was telling me about a 3ct cut diamond which came out of the rocky river, so lots of possibilities. The camp area is free , has long drop toilets, bins , taps etc. lots of room.
