Hi Everyone, how ironic is this i joined this forum a while ago hopeing to get some useful information about gold prospecting. I tecently ended up in hospital and have become friends with a very nice man Donald Walker who owns alot of gold mines in australia. And owns alot of land on the palma river. Very interesting man, been spending hours tslking about his stories.

Sounds like a good bloke to get to know, there is still plenty of gold on the Palmer.

Never been up to the Palmer but I would love to see it one day. Maybe a detour on the way to the cape. Get better.

Haven't been to the Palmer unfortunately Goldtruck, but can highly recommend doing a 4WD trip to the cape for anybody that hasn't done it, magic country (and fishing) up there. Visiting the palmer would be an added bonus i reckon.

That wouldve been a conversation to hear, Mr Walker is a fairly well travelled miner I believe. Started out mining tin around herberton here in NQ until the bust in the 80s.
I thought his company was bought out by a French concern a few years back though. Used to be NQ Metals.
As a self made millionaire it doesnt surprise me that he has leases on thr palmer and probably more elsewhere too. Lucky duck

Scrounger, last time I went to the Cape I called in on the Palmer Goldfields.
That was before I was interested in detecting but the historical side was of great interest to me too, well worth seeing.
