How deep do you like to go when detecting in water ?

Ok, it sounds simple... BUT I have been given a few answers and it does not always make sense.

How deep is the MAX you need to go... And what is the most common/general depth you might detect at.

Salt water

A: Scuba = X M deep X M general

B: Snorkel = X M deep X M general

And for the Purest..

Fresh Water

C: Scuba = X M deep X M general

D: Snorkel = X M deep X M general

I just frolic around up to my neck at the moment(no scuba gear), that is,... when I get in the salt water.
