Gday and thanks Noncents & Duck
The following has been written over a few days.....
And my typing skills suck to say the least..
Ive read the booklet and watched the instructional videos . Thats where my concerns start ... As mentioned i bought the detector(Ace250) off ebay , listed as new never used , came in the box , with a sand scoop/sieve for $280. I looked at the base of the coil , no scratches or anything at all to suggest it has ever been used, all seems good .
When i got home this evening i eagerly assembled it, followed Goldpick's "falsing fix" while putting it together(as i had already read as much as i could find relating to this machine) turned it on to check it out and noticed that the discrimination bars and the battery charge indicator bars are not showing. I thought maybe the batteries( came with it) were low , so bought and installed new batteries but this didnt make any difference.
I contacted Garrett Aust. the next day , explained the situation(hoping for an answer with a good result.... Uh no... thats not what i wanted to hear) I rang the seller, explained my grievance, and got my money back. Well, at least its an ebay story that ends on a good note .
I have since been reading the rest of Goldpick's posts and following the SA boys posts on beach hunting plus everyone else's replies and comments . I think its great that each inspires the others. Im certainly inspired ... When i get back home im gonna go see Bob and Judy at Greta(Goanna gold detectors) and get myself something to start off on.
Having read Goldpick's entries , i think the Ace250 is still a great entry level choice. Ive got plenty of high n dry beach targets in mind , and probably even more likely playground and parks to scour.
So i hope to be able to be posting my own little stories of "treasures uncovered" in the near future.
Cheers to all
Darren
