Hi All,
I've a TDI pro metal detector but no joy yet with this. My brother has just bought a highbank sluice from the US and we will probably go for a trip into NSW for a holiday. I've just seen the utube clip of Wall n Liz with their sluice - excellent clip - wish that we had seen it earlier ;)
Has anyone worked Drake - half way between Casino and Tenerfield? We're central coast Qld. If anyone knows of closer/better areas to play in, would love to hear from you.
Cheers Natascha.

Natascha,
Where in CQ are you?
There are a few spots up the Boyne Valley west of Gladstone that have a rich history of alluvial mining. I believe there is still a working plant near Raglan so there may be areas in the vacinity that may be worth a look.

Further south there are a few spots around the South Burnett that are well worth a swing or pan. The mines at Kilkivan are still producing gold.

I moved from the area a couple of years ago but my family is still up that way.

Regards

Richard

Thanks kindly :) This is a great place for a newbie to learn. I'm trying to figure out how to make a concentrator - looked at blue bowls but my brother is keen on those spinning turbo looking pans. They cost $300 + $100 freight from the US.... I'll keep looking ;) cheers Nat

Hi Richard,
We live just north of Hervey Bay so Gladstone is about 3 hrs away. I found a nice little creek north of Gympie off Bauple - Wooloonga Rd. Didn't have any luck with the metal detector but will try again when I buy a pan - and convert my yabbie pump ;) cheers Nat

Would be worth a drive out towards Kilkivan down the Wooloolga road and then head towards Widgee on the Gympie -Woolooga Rd. A few alluvial areas there and further down some hard rock mines. Never looked for gold there myself but have heard it is still in the area to find.

Richard
