I'm very new to fossicking... and not that experienced or great at it but I did do a bit of digging and collecting as I travelled around Australia last year. I had some luck finding some quartz and amethyst but nothing outrageous. I've joined so I can get some tips on some NSW locations for gems and rocks. I'm thinking of heading up to Lightning Ridge to do some noodling if there's still public places to do that. I guess I'm hoping people who know more than me will share some information with me! Thanks

Welcome Tina,

Lightening Ridge is an interesting place to visit and sounds like a day trip ot two out to the Grawin mullock piles it what you need.

Best of luck

Hi Tina

Welcome to the forum. You might try Grabben Gullen near Crookwell. I used to go there with an uncle and we found Zircon and sapphires. Garie beach used to be good for petrified wood. My advice is to join a local lapidary or gem club. They usually have local knowledge.
