I have a huge addiction to buying pretty gemstones and minerals. My young son and I have just started to cut and polish a few of our own (and loving it).
We are off to Nundle next week for our first ever scratch around in the dirt. Does any one know what type of gems or rocks can be found in that area.

Welcome Karen, we just had our group camp at Nundle last weekend.

As well as Gold, I believe there are Zircons, low grade Sapphires, Quartz Crystals and Prase.

If you're only just starting out I'd suggest checking out the designated fossicking areas which are scattered along Rivers Road, just off to the left. If you drop into the information centre they should be able to point you in the right direction.
