Hi guys, my wife wants to buy a $50 gold detector and go find a Welcome Stranger.

I have done a little research and it would seem that this may be a bit of a stretch so I have joined this forum in an attempt to gain enough knowledge to perhaps make a wise choice in the purchase of a real detector. The ML5000 may be a bit out of our price range but it would appear that there are plenty of mid priced detectors that will do the job.

There seems to be a wealth of information on this site so I am sure with a bit of research our fortune is just around the corner, though tales of 3 years of looking and still no gold is a bit of a worry.

Greeting Magilla. There are a lot of economy Metal Detectors about, the one i suggest is the the Garrett Ace 250. Very versatile-look it up.
