Hi all
My name is Chris and i am new to the forums. I have been looking at getting into a bit of prospecting as my missus and i own a couple of cattle properties out on the southern downs not far from Pikedale and i have family that have cattle properties up around Cania Dam just North of Monto were i spend a lot of time camping, Hunting and fishing. I have been looking at getting a couple of detectors. At the moment i am leaning toward a Minelab GPX 5000 Pro for a PI unit and was thinking of a Eureka Gold for a VLF unit. I am enjoying all the helpful information in the forum.

Cheers Chris

Hi Chris, i looked up Monto and read that there was gold found in Three Moon Creek a tributory of the Burnett River. The gold apparently dwindled in around the late 1920's. Have you ever tried the Three Moon Creek area or heard of anyone finding gold there recently.
Anyway welcome and enjoy the forum with the rest of us.
Jaros :p

Hi Jaros
There is still gold to be found up around Three Moon Creek which runs thought my cousins property around the top of Cania Dam. There are a lot of working claims in the area, Some small working by hand and some bigger running heavy earthmoving gear and crusher units, And when driving the back road on the NW side of Cania dam most of the ground between the edge of the road and the property fences are marked claims. There was also gold found when they were digging the foundations for the dam wall in the 1979-1980 and was quickly filled with concrete before word got out about it and i know about it as i was working on the site as an apprentice boilermaker at the time. I have also done a little bit of panning in Three Moon Creek over the years and had some good little finds also.

Thanks for the welcome
Chris

hey Slider welcome to the forum, might be back up your way at the end of the year :) see how we go.

have you looked at the sdc2300 as a contender yet? I reckon its a ripper unit alot less complicated cheaper etc.

Hi Chris. Tammy here SE QLD as well, Caloundra. My husband and I just got a GPX 5000. I bought it at a mine lab rep in Vic so missed out on the training that is supposed to come with it. I bought the DVD, Unwrapping the GPS 5000, Its very informative but I really need to find some 1 who knows what there doing, that's part of the reason Ive come on the forum so I can find out whos doing courses. We are looking at getting a 4x4 when we sell our 370z and go on a trip up and out somewhere. Im going to have a bit of learning to do though. cheers :)
