Hi All, my name is John,i like going to the old alluvial diggings detecting in Victoria and South Australia, hoping to go up to some places around Hallett for 1 week just after Easter, some friends have asked us to stay in there home,so a great opportunity for a poke around in the creeks. All the best and good prospecting.

Hi John, welcome to the forum. I just moved your intro post into its own topic as it was posted in the wrong section, no harm done :). Please feel free to have a poke around the forum and let me know if you have any issues and I'll do my best to help you. I look forward to reading your posts.

Cheers,
Nugget

Hi Mystyk59. I haven't had much luck yet, some alluvial here, quite a few places to explore, most spots are now on private property and they don't like you going there, because some have done the wrong thing!! So still looking and hoping!!
:)

G'day John, welcome, sounds like you've got the same problem we have up here in Q.L.D. There are a few places to go but the owners don't won't no one on there properties because of people, like you said "doing the wrong thing". There are people who watch these gold forums (most aren't members of any of them) who are just waiting for members to give a location then they'll move in with there rip, tear and bust attitude, create a mess and leave the honest ones (ones who have permission) to take the blame. Sorry about the rant. Good luck with your search. :) Mick

You are right though axeman I used to do a lot of pig hunting with dogs and the main problem we faced was buggers leaving gates open and cutting fences, or uncontrolled dogs hangin off cattle, then the guys who do the right thing pay the price. You can't blame the landowner for trying to look after their livelihood.

I agree with you Mick we are starting a group/club here in Tennant, and we have had a meeting with the major el company this week to assure them that we want to do the right thing and work with them,They were delighted and assured us of their support and cooperation, but the problem is going to be the pastoralists , they are pissed off about gates left open etc. We are trying to protect the interests of the local detectorists but it is hard when others stuff it up with their dont care attitude !

G'day & welcome John,
Heading out for a pan on Sunday to alluvial fields in the Adelaide Hills in the upper Torrens River hope we find enough water to wet a dish. The mob we are going with assure me they get colour in every pan. But hey, that is a line I've used before. Their last trip out they came back with some species.
Fortunately the mob we are heading out with have a good name and get access to sites that can be restricted to the general public,

Hope to catch you out and about some time.

Hi Doughug, maybe we can catchup sometime,i have an electric gold pan that i bought about a year ago,the concept looks great, but haven't really given it a good try yet, hope to try it up around Hallett in the creeks very soon.has anyone done any detecting up in this area?? Is it worth while trying there?? Regards John.
