Hi all

Just joined up from Canberrra. Looking at getting into some urban collecting (parks etc ) and one day soon getting out there looking for nuggets.

Been trying to find one of those Aldi MD to learn before spending bigger money - no luck yet.

Also just bought a AWD as my second car, so looking to learn more about camping/trips

Welcome mate, there is a thread under "metal detecting" and you will find a tab called "others" there's a very nice bloke on there who could possibly have a spare one if your interested (aldi detector), many a member from Canberra on here and lots of help to get you started, enjoy this wonderful hobby of ours, I hope of bring you plenty of satisfaction,

Hi mate,

Have fun and just make sure you use a small hand trowel or proper MD digging tool in the parks here. Cut a 3 sided plug and fill the hole back in and take your rubbish with you. Sorry just at the moment there are some guys getting around Canberra using small shovels and miners picks in the manicured parks! Good way to get us all banned.

its pretty sad that people aren't digging correctly. I am a massive gardener, so I will ensure that I am not damaging the parks and ruining it for others.

Welcome to the forum Yld. Plenty of advice from the Canberra region as there's quite a contingent on here. Our history doesn't go as far back as the big smokes of Sydney or Melbourne, but we do have a lot of old towns and localities close bye which seem to see very little detector pressure.
