Hi. My name is Muz and i'm from Melbourne. I'm a steel fabricator by trade and own a small fabrication and commercial maintenance business.
I've been prospecting for roughly ten years mostly around the triangle and northern Victoria. Panning and sluicing is my forte'...and running quickly while being chased by the odd Bull or Alpaca, bloody things. I never knew they spat.
I got into prospecting through a mate who needed tools and gear made and tagged along to see how it all faired...that was the day the bug bit me hard.
I keep saying to people "I used to go fishing, but all you get is fish!" Prospecting is far superior in my mind, the adventure is laced with something special. I like the fact you get to go to places and meet people you'd never meet and i was never one, although i love roughing it, to go bush without a purpose.
I've read a heap of posts on this forum and it looks like a good bunch and it seems the things that drive me up the wall are the same across the board i.e. leaving rubbish, not filling holes, making a mess of river banks, etc.
I joined this forum to share some of my tricks and hints and to also keep abreast of the legalities of what we do so we can keep on doing it. I also
four wheel drive a bit aswell and the noose is tightening around that too. Greens = face/palm.
To me, prospecting is more about the adventure not the end result.. although it's really nice. Gold glitters that much brighter when you've pulled it out with your own two hands and a few well made tools.
Anyhow.. I look forward to chatting to you lot. To be honest, i've probably run into a few guys on this forum over the years around the traps.
All the best and good hunting.
P.s.
I've got to stop watching all these gold mining shows (Gold Rush Alaska, Bering Sea, Yukon) It's doing my head in.
