I have been interested in prospecting for a very long time but apart of going panning few times never really done anything about it. That is going to change now. I spend way to much time in the office. Hopefully my family will join me and we will have some fun. I really enjoy reading your forum and find a lot of very useful info about the subject. I hope as I learn more i can contribute also. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experience.

Welcome Beagleboy,
Everything you need to know can be found here. All the gold is out there.
I hope your family get involve aslo. Great fun, even greater memories.
Ryan

Welcome aboard Beagleboy, I'm glad you're liking what the forum has to offer so far and I look forward to seeing you around the topics.

Nugget.

Hey Beagleboy,

What is your preference? (Panning, Sluicing, Highbanking or using a detector)

Where abouts are you from?

Thank you for your welcome guys. I am new to all this so I was thinking of getting a sluice box and try that first. I have pans already and the rest of the equipment I am going to build myself. I would like to try detecting but the detectors are not cheap. I will get one one day. I live near Miners Den shop and they do demo days for detectors. I am going to check that out.
I am from Melbourne.

Welcome Beagleboy - good move to get out into the bush & pursue your passion - you will find this forum is sluice box heaven :)
cheers Jed

Thanks Jed. This place is great to learn. I cant wait for the weather to improve so I can go bush.

I heard from my sister-in-law in Doreen that the weather has been pretty wild. Spring is the best time in the Canberra area - before too many snakes wake up. You might like to invest in a good pair of snake gaiters as insurance in summer  There is a topic in this forum on snake gaiters - some members do & some dont but I am old fashioned and try not to rely on emergency serices!
cheers Jed
