...i have been a member for a little while but ABSOLUTELY a newbie.
I live and work on gold coast but have a piece of dirt near the upper Clarence i escape to at every opportunity.
I enjoy reading posts on prospecting Australia and hopeful i will have something post worthy to share in the future.

thanks for coming

glad to hear you enjoy the peace in your own bit of bush . lucky you :)

hope you dig yourself a bit of gold they missed in the goldrush there from the 1830's

i bet they missed plenty that has your name on it

good luck :D

ps . have you found the old maps for the region ?

worth doing a search to see exactly where gold was found around you or maybe even on your block ?

Howdy Mamoo, welcome to the best forum on the net, and nice work on having a piece of dirt on the clarence, HEAPS of info and prospectors willing to help here, good luck to you, and looking forward to stories and pics ;)

Hi Sharon,
Welcome to PA, you're going to like it here, everyone does, it's that kind of place. Feel free to ask any questions, there are plenty of wise heads here more than willing to assist.
Green with envy that you have your own property to play on.....go get it!

Not to mention the Gold Coast!. I lived in Nerang and Labrador in the 90's and 2000-01. Wish I was still there.

Look forward to hearing of your adventures.

TT :)

Thanks for the welcome!
I have done some fossicking in the forest were other people have been and found some ?quartz
I have been looking for historical maps of the area but not to sure what to search for, also found some geo google earth from overlays which give me hope cos there is some 'blobs' that overlay on my property. Its a big piece of dirt, where do i start? would love some pointers! :)

I Mamoo, I come from just outside Lismore (now live in southern NSW) and get up to see the olds a few times a year. Love getting gold from around Drake. Plenty of info out there on the area. Forestry corp website Trove etc. Ask if you have more specific information required and happy hunting

Hi Sharon, Upper Clarence sure is a beautiful spot alright. A friend of mine caught the Australian record Australian Bass at the Gorge years ago. i grew up in Woolgoolga township on the coast and I have friends who are doing quite a bit of prospecting around about up there. They are doing well and if you stick with it (and listen to some of these guys) you will too. Stu.
