G'day members :)

We just joined the forum not long ago and just want to say a big Helloooo to all members far and wide.
We both love prospecting for Gems and Gold but mainly gold, like most we absolutely love the bush and
getting away from the hustle and bustle whenever we can, and the kidlets love it too :)

Some members may know me or of me from other Forums (Beepinpete in the past & now CrazyPete)
haha the name suggests a loose sproket or two but i reckon its a natural progression of mentality when
you get involved in this game

Rie is my lovely partner in crime and is absolutely mad about hunting gold and gems, in fact anything
thats hidden and beautiful "she found me" hahahaha a rough Diamond that she is keen to cut and adore
but her work is cut out :D

We have also just taken up the interest of Geo-caching, mainly to involve the kidlets in the fun of a treasure hunt
with good family stress free days.... geocaching dot com

Rie swings an Ex-Terra 705 for coins and gold and i swing a 5k and we both love panning/crevicing and detecting, we
also have a sluice too but im a lazy sod and like diggin gold nuggets not tonnes of dirt hahaha but i'll have a bash.

We are keen to catch up with a few members for days/weekends out bush for a swing n slurp session
around the Gippsland area :)

All the best to all members and HH :) :)

Hi Folks. Interesting you mention Geo-chaching. Whilst detecting I have found two by pure chance. One near Dunolly (Vic) in a dead tree by a mullock heap. The second was at Wandillo (near Mt Gambier) several years ago when checking an old WW2 PoW camp. I noted the date etc I found them and put them back. Good luck with your prospecting.

Loamer - Cheers mate and yeah, we thought a bit of extra kids in the bush time geocaching would be good and
it turned out they love it, the adventure of the chase and find just like gold and gems, they cant get enuff :)

Mike - thanks for the welcome bud ;) been lingerin for a while now and yup! she's a great forum with great members
and no DH's :D

Happy hunts

Good to see a couple detecting. My wife and I did some dredging to-gether back in the 1970s and started detecting in 1979 at her request. We still spend a lot of time interstate detecting when we can get away.

Cheers Twap duck and Geof,

The dream is well and alive here thats for sure, used to get over Vic before i moved to WA and had good results back then..

Geof - cheers for that overlay mate, its coming in real handy since the move ;)
That 70s panning spot you told me about is now under 10ft of gravel but the gravel
hiolds flood gold as always..
We did actually head upstream a tad and did the crevices in a feeder gully for some bits ;)

Welcome to the forum Pete and Rie. Absolutely great when ones partner is also bitten by the prospecting bug, as the thrill of the hobby is inevitably doubled. Hope you find the forum a useful research tool and a source of additional inspiration.

The members are a friendly bunch, so feel free to get involved with the topics and hopefully share some of those great experiences.

All the very best of luck out there in the prospecting paddock.

Cheers Wal.

Cheers Wal & everyone else for ya very kind welcomes.

This forum is certainly a breath of fresh air, and plenty of great members some of who i
know from other forums also..
I'm a massive believer in "research is the key to the gold n Gems" one of my mates over west calls me the GURU
of researching  but im not sure if the name came because of the research i do or because i can have the aroma
of an Afghans loincloth after a few weeks out bush

Here's to a great Autumn in Vic on the gold, and good luck
to the members shootin over to WA for the winter season.

P&R
