Hi eveyone newbie here. I was recently in Queenstown Tasmania and was introduced to gold panning by a friendly local. One arvo and I was hooked. We panned the King River; the hydro had been turned off for maintenance for a couple weeks. My friend found small pieces and I tried, mostly I was watching trying to learn. Heading back to Queenstown in a week or so, meanwhile in Melbourne watching youtube clips-Wal n Liz are awesome!
With the heatwave coming guess I'll have to wait for another visit to Vic.

Hoping 2014 is a great year for y'all.

Cheers Pip.

Hi Pip,

There are a lot of good areas around Quenstown. I hear Lake Margaret Road and Lynchford are often good to spend a day. Good luck!

Welcome to the forum Pip. Glad you're enjoying some of the vids, and I'm sure you will find the actual prospecting a real buzz when you're out there digging the gold and gems for yourself.

Tassie is probably the place to be at the moment with the rest of the country sweltering in the heat. Always find a cool stream down that way with some gems and a bit of gold.

Hope the forum adds to the enjoyment, and look forward to following your progress in this great hobby of ours. All the very best of luck out there,

Cheers Wal.
