hi every 1 just new to prospecting im looking at a metal detector or maybe sluicing which is the way to go, I was thinking of a sdc2300 as I live on the west side of Melbourne thanks peter

Hi Peter, why don't you save yourself some pain, and hire a few different detectors and get feel for the one that suits you.
You could save yourself a lot of money. Have "good" read of the forum sections and go for it. Hands on, is a great way to learn anything.
