Hi everyone on the forum, kerry my wife & I have been detecting now for around 4 years, started off with an old Whites 6000d, then onto a GMT and have graduated to a gpx 5000(after hiring them more than 1/2 dozen times) well you have to sure it's the right one for you!
plus its great to get out into the bush and have a great day, which we have every time we head out even if we don't find a bit of that yellow stuff,
I've found this forum to be a wealth of information & hope to be able to contribute as well,

Well done with your 5000 purchase, they seem to do the trick, just have to walk over a piece.
See you're just up the road, may provide some opportunities in the future and good to see a few from Melbourne's west.
There are a heap knowledgeable and approachable people on this forum feel sure you'll pick up lots of tips and in turn be in a position to pass on your acquired knowledge.

Hi Mark welcome to the forum.

I am from Melbourne's West as well.

There are a few of us on here.

Your lucky because you have a 25 minute head start travelling to the gold fields
so a drive to Talbot for example might take you only an hour or so.

Thanks for the welcome guys, I've been up around the triangle quite a bit, once hired a 5000 for 3 days-found a tiny nugget within the first 20 min of swinging in a high trash area! thought to myself how good is this-then nothing but rubbish for the next 3 days!!
such is life! I find a positive attitude helps a lot
