Hi guys,
brand new here and almost brand new prospecting - though I did do a gold survey on a creek south of Oberon in uni way back when. We even sampled the outcrops on the surrounding hills. Mainly we drank beer and pilfered the larger nuggets off the sluice.
I'm a mining engineer by trade. I've learnt a lot over the last few weeks about NSW geology. The rock types are a mystery, I always enjoyed the structural side of geology in the past. I might even invest in a set of coloured pencils to start feeling like a real geologist if this keeps up!
Live in Newcastle, getting some pennies saved for a detector in the near term. First trip will be alluvial and scouting out a few spots in the Barringtons I have found in a flurry of Covid enforced research. Found a couple of other places which look interesting which will be on the list.
Looking forward to getting out and feet dirty.
Dean
