Hey new to the detecting world, hired a sdc 2300 over the weekend and enjoyed it a lot. Went around Ballarat region, slatey Creek, nerinna, White Swan and out Smythesdale way. Only found bullets/pallets, bullet shells, rusted metal, railway pins, all at various depths but no gold. The maps show gold digging areas were I mostly searched around filled in mine shafts, Gully's etc do you guys drift away from these areas as they are over searched? Or keep in a area around the diggings?

Hi Michael - I also use a SDC 2300 and am in Ballarat. I've been working the Nerrina and Little Bendigo areas. Although they are flogged to death the SDC still delivers on the small stuff. Picked up a 0.7 grammar in Little Bendigo a couple of weeks ago.. I agree there is a lot of junk out there and these areas have been used as tipping grounds due to their proximity to Ballarat but if you persevere you will have success.

gold is all over ....but is playing hide and seek ....

Yes the SDC is a pain in junky areas but it will find you gold. They scream over junk and iron.
