Just after a bit of advice, I was out around tarnagulla using a gox5000 with a commander mono coil, I'm new to this so not sure if this should happen but even when I lightly brushed the coil over the surface it would sound off like a faint target, sometimes even if I flicked a couple of thin bits of grass or plant, I kept ground balancing but it didn't seem to make a difference, I had the machine all in factory preset, it was happening mainly when the middle of the coil touched something, any advice would be great

First off make sure all the connections are very secure,,,, the slightest movement will make a noise.
Make sure coil lead is nice and tight along the shaft.
Check the skid plate make sure its in good order and on correctly.......

From there its a matter of settings

Sounds like you have a touch sensitive coil there was a faulty batch of 11 inch commander coils a few years ago ,try another mono coil contact ML they should give you the serial number of the crook batch of coils regards john :)

Would anyone know what those serial numbers are like between what no. To what no.

I took my new (2nd hand ) 15" commander out today and it did exactly the same thing! :( Anyone know if this coil had/has a similar fault? The coil is approx 15 months old.

Well took it out again today and it drove me nuts, it seems to get worse as the day goes on, so in the end went back to the car and swapped it with a dd coil looked up some recommended setting for it on this site and got my first ever nugget about the size of a nail head at about 10cm deep then dug up half inch piece of steel in a mullock heap at about a foot, this was around Blackwood, now if I can get the mono coil to work like the dd I'll be very happy
