As most of you good folk know, the 'Guess the weight' gold comp has ended with Myazma taking home the gold.

The second part of the comp involves the 15" Coiltek mono coil whose plug suits the Minelab X-Terra machines only.

Originally it was decided that the next closest 20 correct guesses of the golds weight, would exclusively go into the running to win the coil.

Question : What are your thoughts on the best way to run this being that I would like to include those members here who actually run a Minelab X-Terra machine aswell.

They can be the 305, the 505 or the 705 models?

At the same time, I want to stress the importance of somehow giving those members who finished in the top 20 correct guesses kind of an exclusive advantage as they well deserve it.

Also, what should i use as a decider to determine who wins it?

My original thought was a correct answer to one of my riddles on gold, but the more i contemplate it, the more corny it sounds to me?

Any, and all suggestions would be most welcome from all you members out there who have some ideas on which we way we should roll with this!

Many thanks in advance all, and I will forever be in debt to anyone who can help me out here.

Gold and Coin Regards

Meta ;)

tough, under the original rules, only the top 20 were eligable to be in the running for the coil. So, IMO it should stay that way. However, I can see the sentiment....not many of those top 20 will own an xterra, so they may chuck it in a cupboard, or sell it....which isnt really in the spirit of things. But, as I said the original rules prob shouldnt be changed now. Riddle, I like the google earth idea, kinda like the old video game "where in the world is carmen sandiago".

Keep the top twenty , if they don't own a x-terra I am sure someone on here will buy it from them so they get cash reward ,
As for the riddle it could be a treasure hunt , Have a starting town in Australia say Perth , Then give directions using compass bearings and kilometers maybe some turns say 90 degree and 45 degree maybe throw some miles in as well , have enough directions to make it easy to be off target and then they have to name what lies where they end up.
Clear as mud
Might have to do it as private msg so the rest of us don't spoil it :) :(

Once they have answered in pm ,it could be a thread so the rest of us could have a crack then. :D

Starting to sound like hard work now , Oh well just cut the coil in to twenty pieces and they can share

I like your thinking. :)

putting it out there, if someone wins the coil, and doesnt want it, offer it to me a good price :) and I will keep my 705, and make good use of the WOT for beach hunts ;)

I have an x-terra for the kids.
Keeps my fishing trip on track.
I get 3 hrs of peace. The kids go find berried tresure.
They fined all sorts of things.

All the suggestions are good. Just pick one and go with that.

So I'm happy for someone to donate to the .
Keep the kids quite fund.
Cheers Kane

I have an X-Terra but honestly I think it's more fair for the top 20 who were closest :) Even though I was way off I think it's still better for them to have a chance. After all they did go well with their guesses! :)

Perhaps you could either do the names from a hat option or I liked something involving the guessing side of things. The riddle I think would work well as they'd have to think about it as well as come up with the correct guess :)

Hi Meta

I am one of the top 20 and only have a 2300 and as such, I would like to win it just so that I could re donate for everyone else to have another go.

Not sure what the others that don't have a compatable machine thoughts are but I am happy with whatever you come up with.

Would seem a shame if it did'nt go to someone who could use it rather than winning it and flogging it . ( you could have done that rather than donating it)

I just love the generosity of all the individuals and sponsors who donate prizes to give us the opportunity to partake in these competitions more as a bit of fun, after all winning is not everything, its how you play the game, so don't stress on my behalf.

Bob. ???

Awesome input lads, thanks to all.

The loyalty you blokes show to other members is fantastic, you could be my prospecting buddies anytime! ;)

Yeh ok, agreed.....we stay with the top 20 as they do deserve it.

Comp is up now here https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=13709

You have till Sunday 13th Sept (6pm AEST)

Thanks again lads

To draw from the top 20
Using 20 x 20 cent pieces, Number them from 1 to 20.
Give each top 20 a number.
Put them in a suitable hat or bag and shake it up and down round and round.
Draw one coin.
That will be the winning number.
Very good of you Meta to do this. :D :D :D
