My name is Ray, I am retired and live in Venus Bay SA. I have been detecting for about 5 years now mainly during the winter time as we live near the sea in summer. I started with an old SD 2000 modified by Ismael Jones which I still have as a back up great machine ! I am now using a GPX5000 as my main detector. My wife and I are currently in Tibooburra, chasing the fly specks. This is my third trip here, great country, will probably spend 4 - 5 weeks here (advantages of being retired) then to Central Queensland to do some gem fossicking (someone has to do it). Chasing the fly specks here at Tibooburra is getting harder now as more people get up this way with better machines. Got 86 pieces last year ! Went out to Gumvale Station the other day and found a nice 4.2 gram nugget. Pretty pleased with that as nuggets of this size are somewhat rare up here. Raining here today so good chance to give the back a rest. Will report any further worthwhile finds !
