Hi, we are the Woodpeckers, Husband and Wife, from Bungendore NSW. We bought our first detector three years ago, an XTerra. We gave it a good shot as we were travelling around Australia, but alas we only found the usual bullet shells, nails etc,but really enjoyed being in the outdoors. We had a lot of help from other prospectors and met some great people. Last year we tripped around VIC and bought a secondhand 2100 Minelab detector from Maryborough. We went out on a group trip for a few hours with a staff member, and they showed us how to use it. The best find we have so far was a hand made baby nappy safety pin from a field in Dunolly. We may not have found anything in the colour of GOLD but we learn a little more each time we prospect from other like minded people.
We would love to go out with a group in the Canberra, Bungendore area so we can learn where we can go and get some more tips.We would also like to Pan as well.
Cheers the woodpeckers

Welcome to Prospecting Australia woodpeckers, it's great to have you guys on the forum.

I look forward reading all about your travels and if you ever have any questions, please don't be afraid to ask.

Nugget.

Hi Woodpeckers. The SDs are still very good detectors and are still good on the gold. You running an 11" DD round on the 2100? I started on an SD and found this to be the best compromise.

Good luck.

Welcome aboard guy's, your only a stones throw away from some nice alluvial gold areas and I'm sure there's still the odd nugget to be had out that way ;)

See you on the creek

Hello all,

Its been awhile since I posted anything as we have not been able to go away, so just had to dream about it.
Thankyou to all who posted a welcome to us.
Would be very interested to hear from Moderator as you live in our area to give us some information on where we can go locally.
We are visiting our son in Brisbane in October and will head to Clermont for a week after that to try our luck.
Any tips?
Looking at all the show and tell gets us all excited about getting out there.
Cheers Woodpeckers
