Looking at getting into metal detecting. Mainly looking for coins around Brisbane but would take what ever I have up to Mareeba when I visit the in laws.

Look at the Minelab X-terra 705. Would love to get into the CTX3030 but the money wan't go that far.

let me know what you think about the X-terra 705 as a first machine.

I rented one once

It gave me the ***** so much I felt like smashing it on a rock and the manual is crap too

However before you go and buy something else , compare the depth capability and functions with something like a garret AT pro or AT Gold , you will get opinions on this forum from people who have used both

Welcome to the forum J. I'm sure if you throw some questions at the members in the detector section, some great advice will come your way. There are many good detectors on the market and all have their pro's and cons.

Talking to guys with first hand experience may save you some headaches further down the track. Best of luck and look forward to chatting on the threads.
