Hi my name is Kimberly, Im a 25 year old mother of 3 beautiful children. My partner and i are always hearing my uncle go on about trying to find gold but not getting anywhere or just getting some tiny hint, so we thought we might give it a try. We've just finished off attempting to create a blue bowl here in our house for around $10 and it seems to do a wonderful job. Tomorrow we will be making our own sluice and testing that. Looking forward to being able to talk to other like minded people and hopefully learning a bit more about prospecting. We're going out for our first try at some stage this week, even if we dont get anything at least we can say we tried and we can see how well our DIY projects have gone. Im also interested in fossils, gems, and other items and history in and around our beautiful country.

Hi Akasha,

Welcome to the forum, there are plenty of helpful people here willing to answer any questions you may have. I am pretty close to you (Mt Gambier) so we have to do a bit of a drive to get to the goldfields. There are old mines north of Casterton and along Mathers creek near Pigeon Ponds but they were pretty small fields from all accounts. I tried them out on Monday and did not find a speck but that does not mean its not there, I just need to look in the right spots. Usually I head to Ararat where I know I will find colour in every pan.

Good luck with your projects and I hope you guys find some colour soon.

Cheers

Welcome Kimberly, it's a great hobby to share with your family and I wish you all the best with it. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
Nugget
