Welcome to the forum Colmaca, great location you have and some great detecting on the way back to Cloncurry. Some great gems and crystals close by at Crystal Mountain and the Amethyst Castle region.

Hope you get a lot of useful info from the members here, and the 705 is a great machine to get you started in this great hobby. Look forward to seeing some pics of the region and look forward to seeing you among the threads.

Best of luck out there,

Cheers Wal.

Hey Colmaca
Welcome to the forum, 705 is not the greatest to get started with in prospecting but you've got to work to a budget, if you give us an idea of your budget we can make suggestions that may be better suited to the search for "Gold" I was told on monday about a gp3000 for $1600 that would be an awesome buy.
cheers

Welcome Colmaca ,
Lee is correct about the 705 , an old SD 2100 will eat one of those Big time !
There are better ways then detectors to get more gold ;)

OB.

Depends on a thing called budget... a 5000 will eat a 2100 big time as well....but not everyone new to the game can afford one. :(

Cheers Wal.

Wal I do agree about budget ' therefore a SD2100 at about the same price as a 705 , what would you prefer ?

G'day OB,

Though this is not the area to express the pros and cons of each machine, I myself (as a beginner) would get the 705 or the AT Gold over the 2100, as the machine has the versatility to discriminate and be a useful all rounder for both gold and coins. If i was serious on gold only i would touch nothing less than a "Modded" 3500.

It's up to the person buying the detector to choose which field will suit the majority of it's use.

Cheers Wal.

I was looking back at my 1st post here :) I see Maybe I should not get a 705 it was hard to use, now I know better I would not start again with it . Pan some walbanker some detecting is not easy :) I do it in thongs some times :)
