I'm new to prospecting, i'd like to concentrate on Gold, but other minerals are desirable. I need to read the forums closely to find out about private land and fossicking south Australia as south Australia doesn't seem to have licenses online

Nope, no licence required in SA, but only about 3 crown land places around Adelaide you can as they call it in SA fossick. You can keep what you find but it remains the property of the crown, so your not allowed to sell any finds. This is why most of us here in SA pay $17.20 for a Vic. Miners rights and go prospecting over there. The miners right tranfers ownership of minerals found from the crown to you, so then you can sell finds. Sux to be in SA huh! But welcome aboard Goldstew. It's a great hobby.
