Gday folks, I'm from the Murray river area in nsw near Echuca, I'm only just looking into starting up with the prospecting having developed an interest watching heaps of YouTube vids (especially Wal nliz). I plan to just start off doing some panning whilst I learn the ropes and find some good locations. I'm very happy to have found this awesome forum so thanks everyone.
I've found I'm pretty close to some well known areas in northern Victoria around Bendigo and that but if anyone could give me a point in a good direction for some simple river panning that would be much appreciated.

Bo from where you are there aren't alot of close (legal) options. Eldorado to the east would be the best chance in terms of flow and probability of gold.
Bendigo has seasonal panning, same for castlemaine Daylesford creswick etc.

I've dug up some old trove articles for here in northern vic but most of the places they mention are rivers and tributary on the exempted list (eg campaspe). Other locations nearby might be alright for detecting and digging but river panning is a tough one, very low probabilities of seasonal flow.

I will be interested to hear what any others have to say.
