Yep we've decided to head to Bendigo for a holiday and check out the local areas for prospecting has anyone got some good ideas for accommodation ? We are new to prospecting and thought this would be the best place to get some info.
We will be traveling from Tassie. :p :p

Hi. Cottages attached to the Miners Den in Bendigo are good and cheap. Basic but clean and tidy.
Good luck!
we are also in Tassie and have been contemplating a return visit to Bendigo, we really enjoyed our time there! :)
Cheers
Anne

Laanacoorie Lakeside, Dunolly or Marybourough Caravan Parks - all put you smack bang in the middle of the Golden Triangle. Maryborough town has excellent facilities and a great prospectors shop, as does Dunolly.

hey loamer i wouldn't stay at marryborugh caravan park lol, where are u from?

Maryborough C/P by the lake is a ripper - nice views, nice people and very quiet. I am in Melbourne but have a place 'up in the triangle'.

and how do u pm people

Require a minimum post count to PM people - which you must be nearly at. This prevents ad-bots joining the forum then spam pm-ing adverts at everyone.

Thanks Mick & Anne, had a look at the accommodation next to the miners den, yep looks ok to us , is there much to do or to see in that area apart from visiting the detecting shops? We are heading over early November.

Loamer, thank we shall do the drive by at Marybrough maybe stop at c/p next trip.

Hi. The only time we have spent in Bendigo was for detecting, but it's a really nice town. There seems to be lots of other small towns close by, the history is great. We did a couple of days with a guide as we'd just bought our 5000 and needed to learn the basics.....we're very new at this! We camped at the whipstick the first time we were there and then Mick went back over for a few days with a mate.....I had to work :( .....and that's when he stayed in the cabins.

Plenty to see and do. Central Deborah mine, Chinese museum, Bendigo pottery, tram, Joss House, Gillies meat pies. etc. Seriously you will enjoy it. The Whipstick is to the north and the majority of the big nuggety fields are about 30 - 40 minutes to the west, Dunolly, Tarnagulla etc. Have fun.

off to Wedderburn at the end of October with a mate for a bit of a swing around, the motel there will be home for a coupla days. looking forward to !! i'll let y'all know how it goes........hopefully some pics of finds!!

Good country up there ched. Stone did 2 maps of the area if you haven't got one. Garibaldi/Wedderburn and Wedderburn.

Hey there,
We just had a 4 day break in Castlemaine - just down the rd from bendigo.
Stayed in a 1 bedroom 1860's miners cottage(refurb'd) for $135 a night & is pet friendly.
A/C & heating, Dishwasher, washing machine & dryer etc. good back yard & carport.
Best accomodation we've been to... (just like having your own house. no-one in a room next door showering at 3am or loud tv on, as can happen at a hotel or motel.)

An other place we stay at every now & then is http://www.allseasonsbendigo.com.au/hotel/
Bit more pricy but excellent facilities & will recommend - esp. for families.

Thanks for that tip Ag Man, That looks great, a bit of an over kill but what the hec 8)

Sounds like there will be plenty to do and look at in that area
