Has anyone made/tried a Hilti rock crusher??

Hi Dug, I've seen the Crazy Crusher and think it would be a handy thing to have on the end of a work bench for sure, simple crushing.
Haven't seen and can't find the one for the chainsaw bar.

G0lddigg@ you're probably right about the dolly pot, my only issue with the ones I have are they're both very loud when I use them in the back yard (6ft crowbar into 4" & 6" steel gas main), my Jack Russell goes nuts and attacks it so I have to lock her away and the neighbours always ask what the noise was when I see them out the front, to which I reply "what noise" :p
Just looking at different options (easier) for getting the big stuff down to a size for the little compact crusher, I'll stick with the dolly.

Ahh, a TE 17 Hilti hammer gun, that is an oldie but a goodie.
I bought mine in the early 80's and it is still going strong.
Think I'll keep it for drilling tho, a dolly is the way to go.

hey Pete i know your pain my backyard/shed has a concrete slab that spans the width of the property, when pounding on it the reo carries the "thump" "thump" right through the house adn no doubt next door neighbors :)

Occasionally i forget but when i dont I use a block of scrap wood with an old piece of truck Tyre on top and smash away at that, the rubber takes up most of the force.

Ive seen your dolly thought and its a bit of a monster :) maybe you need to knock up a little one as well?

here's my traveler - a re-purposed hammer head it had the perfect rounded head so as not to lock up the quartz at the base, total cost $0 maybe a little bit of mig wire :)

I like that hammer head idea mate, I made a junior dolly which I'm using more than the beast, I put thick rubber matting under the flange on the ground outside (not in the shed), I think most of the noise is coming from the height of the pipe plus using the 6ft crowbar, I have to use a lot of force to crush so maybe the idea of a heavy weight at the bottom (hammer head) requires less energy? therefor reduced noise?
The beast is 6" diam internal, junior is 3", maybe cutting some length off will also help with the noise factor?

Disclaimer: the JD can is for perspective purposes only, there's no way I'd be consuming alcohol before midday, 1.2hrs to go though so better get the can back in the fridge

i think you might be right mate, the crushing should ahppen from force of meteal to metal with nowhere for the force to go but into the quartz, possibly the extended pipe creates additioanl force and transfers energy to the ground.... dont know really all i know is my neighbors don't complain because i'm the only one on the street with any decent tools..... default hardware at time lol

yes i can see the internal diametre of the tube is roughly a jd can :)
